Five words from the doctor stand out to me: "There's nothing we can do." Does he mean there's nothing to be done therapeutically? Morally or ethically? That there's no means of sedating the patient to alleviate the pain that won't potentially expedite death and "do harm"? Given the reporter's immediate arrest after his admission, it's no wonder the doctor would simply declare: "There's nothing we can do."
